Northern Cape

The Northern Cape is a vast stretch of semi-desert land. It is a large, dry region of fluctuating temperatures and varying topographies.
As the most arid part of South Africa it offers the visitor an experience that is not elsewhere available.

The national conservation areas include the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park stretching into Botswana, Augrabies Falls National Park and Vaalbos National Park situated in the east near Kimberley.

The Kgalagadi comprises two million-hectares of sparsely vegetated, red sand dunes and dry riverbeds. The reserve is a sanctuary for antelope, gemsbok, springbok, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, eland, lion, leopard, cheetah and smaller game.

The Augrabies Falls National Park is an arid piece of lunar landscape-like land offering the visitor over 15 000 ha of unique riverine ecosystems to explore and various animals and indigenous trees can be seen.
